Aluminum-Coated Asphalt Roofing Membrane for Waterproofing

Aluminum coated asphalt membranes provide a durable and effective barrier that helps protect roofs from water infiltration. Designed to seal leaks, cracks, seams, and penetrations, this membrane creates a watertight layer that prevents moisture from reaching the underlying roof structure.

Primer application is recommended to improve surface bonding, enhance adhesion strength, and ensure long-term waterproofing performance, particularly on porous or weathered substrates.

The asphalt layer bonds securely to most roofing surfaces, conforming to irregular shapes and movements to maintain a tight seal. The aluminum facing adds an extra level of protection by reflecting heat, resisting UV exposure, and shielding the roof from harsh weather conditions.

This is not a permanent solution and for a better  adhesion and performance, we recommend applying our Primer before installation.

Three-Layer Protection for Reliable Waterproofing

Our Aluminum-Coated Asphalt Roofing Membrane is engineered with a three-layer system designed to deliver strong adhesion, dependable waterproofing, and long-lasting surface protection.

1. Adhesive Layer

The adhesive layer allows the membrane to bond securely to the roof surface. It provides immediate tack and conforms to irregular shapes, ensuring a tight seal over cracks, seams, and penetrations. When applied to a properly prepared surface, this layer helps prevent lifting and edge failure.

2. Asphalt Waterproofing Layer

The asphalt layer forms the core of the membrane and serves as the primary waterproof barrier. It fills gaps and seals imperfections, blocking water infiltration and protecting the underlying roof structure from moisture damage. Its flexibility allows it to expand and contract with temperature changes without cracking.

3. Aluminum Protective Layer

The aluminum top layer adds durability and weather resistance. It reflects heat and UV rays, helping reduce roof surface temperatures and slow material degradation. The aluminum surface also protects the asphalt layer from exposure to the elements, extending the life of the repair.

Our Aluminum-Coated Asphalt Roofing Membrane is designed to provide reliable, long-lasting protection against water intrusion. Engineered for durability and ease of application, this self-adhesive membrane creates a strong waterproof barrier that helps seal roofs against leaks, moisture, and weather-related damage.

The asphalt layer bonds securely to a wide range of roofing surfaces, while the aluminum coating reflects heat, resists UV  exposure, and adds an extra layer of weather protection.

    Steps for Proper Installation

    1. Safety First

    • Work      on a dry day with no rain in the forecast
    • Wear      gloves, safety glasses, and non-slip shoes
    • Use      a roof harness

    2. Inspect and Prepare the Area

    • Remove      loose shingles, debris, and damaged material

    · Surface must be dry and structurally sound

    3. Clean the Surface

    • Brush      off dust, granules, and moisture
    • Wipe      with a clean cloth if needed
    • Let      area fully dry before priming

    4. Apply Asphalt Primer (When Necessary)

    • Use      a brush or roller
    • Apply      primer 2–4 inches beyond the hole on all sides
    • Coat      both exposed decking and surrounding shingles
    • Allow      primer to flash off until tacky (usually 10–20 minutes)

Ø Primer ensures proper adhesion and long-term seal

    5. Cut the Membrane Patch

    • Cut      aluminum-coated membrane large enough to overlap the hole
Minimum overlap: 4–6 inches on all sides
    • For      larger holes, use a 36-inch wide roll for full coverage

    6. Apply the Aluminum-Coated Asphalt Membrane

    • Center      the membrane over the hole
    • Press      down starting from the center outward
    • Ensure      aluminum side faces up

    7. Seal and Press

    • Firmly      press membrane edges by hand or with a roller
    • Remove      air bubbles and wrinkles
    • Make      sure edges are fully bonded to shingles

    8. Final Inspection

    • Confirm      full adhesion
    • No      exposed decking
    • No      lifted edges or gaps

Ø Roof is now watertight, UV-protected, and sealed
